Tesla promises to add charging stations
DETROIT (AP) — Electric car maker Tesla Motors Inc. is promising to boost the number charging stations during the next year so its customers can drive across North America.
The company says it will triple the number of charging stations from the current eight by the end of next month. Next year, it expects to have about 100. That would let owners of its $70,000 Model S sedans travel from Los Angeles to New York and make other long trips.
The Palo Alto, Calif., company says the “supercharger” network will allow its customers to drive for about three hours, charge for about a half-hour, then resume driving.
Currently the company has eight supercharger stations in California and on the East Coast.
