Happy summer…. it’s finally here officially!

FRIDAY

Head to Downtown LA’s Grand Park to see the cult classic HAIRSPRAY under the stars, it’s a free screening. Plus some free dance lessons on the proper way to do the “stricken chicken” and seize the chance to be generally out-of-sight, my man. Grand Park, 200 N. 6pm tonight (Friday) make it a date under the stars at LACounty Museum to listen to the tunes of  The Jazz Leaders, who are a newly-formed sextet comprised of Southern California’s finest bandleaders: Dr. Bobby Rodriguez on trumpet and flügelhorn, Rickey Woodard on sax, Billy Mitchell on piano, Ryan Cross on bass, Bobby Matos on congas, and Paul Kreibich on drums. The ensemble recorded its debut  album in May 2012, and has been performing at leading clubs around Los Angeles. BP Grand Entrance, free, no reservations required.

If you are like me and LOVE lavender …. this is for YOU. From 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. celebrate the beginning of lavender harvest season! Stroll through the winding paths of organic lavender fields, participate in guided tours in horse-drawn hay wagons, learn how lavender essential oil is extracted, taste lavender-inspired dishes and enjoy live music.

Can you imagine The Miracle Mile with NO CARS? This Sunday for a few hours it becomes reality at CicLAvia – walk, stroll or roll down six miles of a car free Wilshire Blvd., 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

And of course…………………..there’s always the BEACH ! Hip-hip hooray, summer!
