Anthem Blue Cross opts out of California’s new insurance market

Anthem Blue Cross says it won’t participate in California’s new insurance market for small businesses.

The LA Times says this surprising move could hamper the state’s ability to enroll businesses in its new exchange called Covered California that opens Jan. 1, 2014 as part of the federal healthcare law.

Money 101 host Bob McCormick talks about this issue with Covered California spokesman Dana Howard and with Jerry Nickelsberg, a Senior Economist with the UCLA Anderson Forecast.
