Shots fired near Orange County equestrian center
SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — Sheriff’s deputies say they are rescuing people from an Orange County equestrian center who reported hearing gunshots fired from a nearby residence.
Orange County sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock said deputies responded to a 911 call at about 11 a.m. Wednesday at an equestrian center in the hilly eastern edge of the county known as Jackson Ranch.
Hallock says SWAT teams are rescuing seven to eight people who hunkered down on the property after hearing the shots. About three or four people already had left the center.
Hallock says a man who was leaving the area at the time has been detained for questioning.
Hallock says no injuries have been reported. He says deputies have not yet reached the home where the five to 10 shots were heard.
