Santa Ana’s new city manager to earn over $300K
SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — Santa Ana’s new city manager is going to be one of the highest paid city employees California, earning more than $550,000 in salary and benefits in the first year.
The Los Angeles Times reports Tuesday that David Cavazos, who was hired away last week from his former job as city manager of Phoenix, will get a salary of $315,000, matching his base pay there.
Santa Ana has a population of about 330,000, Phoenix about 1.5 million.
Cavazos will also get $60,000 for housing over the first two years, and $7,500 for moving expenses.
Councilwoman Michele Martinez says the city is paying for quality and Cavazos is the best.
Cavazos will replace Paul Walters, a former police chief, who was pushed out of office.
