Police seek help tracking down good Samaritan
ANAHEIM (CNS) – Anaheim police asked today for the public’s help in tracking down a good Samaritan who helped a disabled woman retrieve her purse from a thief.
The 39-year-old woman was northbound on Acacia Street in her wheelchair under the Riverside (91) Freeway overpass on July 30 about 2:10 p.m. when a thief snuck up from behind and snatched her purse from her lap, Anaheim police Sgt. Bob Dunn said.
The victim shouted for help, prompting a man in a white pickup truck to chase after the suspect, who was about 22 years old, Dunn said. The driver returned moments later with the victim’s purse and returned it to her, the sergeant said.
Police would like to get in touch with the man to honor him for his actions and to see if he can help investigators track down the thief, Dunn said.
She described the good Samaritan a white man about 50 years old with gray hair and a mustache.
Anyone with information is asked to call Orange County Crime Stoppers at (855) TIP-OCCS.
