Is there a racial double-standard?
A funeral service was held in Melbourne, Australia today for the 22-year-old baseball player who was shot and killed in a random attack in Oklahoma earlier this month. Prosecutors say Christopher Lane, a white college student, was gunned down at random, by three bored teens, two of whom were black.
The case and that of a white World War II veteran, allegedly beaten to death by two black teens in Washington state last week, have led some to say there is a racial double-standard in this country given the lack of outrage by civil rights activists and the President, compared to the reaction over the Trayvon Martin killing.
