Long Beach shooting kills 2 men, injures 2 women
LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) – Long Beach detectives are investigating a shooting incident that left two men dead and two women injured.
Police received several 911 calls at about 9:55 p.m. Friday and responded to a single-family home on the 6500 block of Rose Avenue, said police Sgt. David Marander.
In a small alcove beside the home, the officers discovered two men with gunshot wounds to their torsos. The men, 26-year-old Sophon Kao and 24-year-old Jerry Chim, both of Long Beach, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two women also with gunshot wounds to their torsos were transported to the hospital and are in serious but stable condition, Marander said.
Detectives believe the shooter wasn’t with the group but approached them on foot Friday night while they were celebrating a birthday and shot at them, Marander said. Police do not know what the motive was.
Detectives request that witnesses, potential victims, or anyone with information contact them.
