LONG BEACH (CNS) – Health officials today confirmed the first case of flu in Long Beach, prompting a call for residents to get vaccinated.

“Everyone age 6 months and older should get the flu vaccine each year, especially those with a health condition that may increase their risk of serious complications from the flu,” city health officer Michaell Kushner said.

Details about the flu patient were not released.

City health officials have scheduled eight vaccination clinics across the city between October and December. Details on the clinics are available through the city Health Department. Appointments for shots can also be made through the Health Department by calling (562) 570-4315.
