Santa Ana Zoo welcomes baby monkeys
SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — There’s a new double dose of cute at the Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park.
The Orange County Register reports the zoo has welcomed two newborn monkeys in the past month.
A female black and white colobus was born Sept. 1. Its mother was the first colobus born at the zoo, making the baby the first second generation monkey born there. Colobus monkeys are native to parts of Africa.
A crested capuchin, a native of Brazil, was born Aug. 29. Its gender is still unknown because it integrated with its habitat immediately, before zookeepers had a chance to examine it.
The Santa Ana Zoo now houses 59 monkeys from 16 species.
