Woman killed by hit-and-run driver in Hollywood
LOS ANGELES (AP) – Los Angeles police are searching for a driver who fled the scene after hitting and killing a woman with his car in Hollywood.
Authorities say the woman was struck early Friday near a bus stop on Santa Monica Boulevard near Highland Avenue. City News Service reports she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators are hoping to get surveillance footage from cameras at nearby businesses. No vehicle description was immediately available.
The fatal crash comes one day after Councilman Joe Buscaino said he would propose a standing $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of drivers in deadly hit-and-run crashes.
Buscaino said he would introduce his proposal at Friday’s city council meeting.
