2 Inglewood officers hurt in confrontation
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Inglewood police say an officer has been hit by gunfire and another injured in a confrontation with a barricaded gunman who may be holding a hostage.
Officers were called to a home in the Los Angeles suburb at around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Capt. James James D. Madia tells KCAL-TV that one officer was struck by gunfire but is going to be fine, while another officer received minor injuries.
Madia says the gunman may be holding a woman hostage in the house.
A SWAT team and a hostage negotiator were called out.
Police from various agencies and sheriff’s deputies have surrounded the area and some residents are being led out of are by police.
There’s no immediate word on what prompted the confrontation.
