SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — Authorities are examining whether a 51-year-old woman found dead on an Orange County freeway transition road may have been pushed or jumped out of a vehicle.

The Orange County Register  reports the body of Martha L. Rodezno was discovered shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday on the transition from northbound Interstate 5 to the westbound 22 Freeway in Santa Ana.

Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna says the Los Angeles woman had attended a family function in Mission Viejo, but got upset and left on foot. She was last seen near I-5 and Avery Parkway around midnight.

Bertagna says police are requesting the public’s help in piecing together a timeline of events.

Detectives are investigating whether Rodezno may have called someone for a ride from Mission Viejo or hitchhiked.
