Valentine’s day weddings
NORWALK (CNS) – As a day dedicated to love, today will be filled with the sound of wedding bells, and Los Angeles County officials are preparing for a busy day of civil ceremonies.
About 400 couples have made appointments for wedding ceremonies at the county’s seven Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk’s offices, according to spokeswoman Regina Ip. Appointments can no longer be made today, but couples can show up unannounced to obtain a license and be married on Valentine’s Day –
if they are prepared to wait.
According to Ip, there are normally about 30 wedding ceremonies performed each day at the main county clerk’s office in Norwalk, 12400 Imperial Highway. So far for today, 100 are scheduled.
Instead of the normal one chapel set up at the Norwalk office, the county will have six on Valentine’s Day, with ceremonies being held every 15 minutes between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Couples can begin obtaining marriage licenses at 8 a.m.
