Missing mother of 2 young boys found
LOS ANGELES (CNS) – The mother of two children who were found wandering a busy street in South Los Angeles was arrested today.
Sidnicka Wilson, 32, was arrested around 1:30 p.m. near Western Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and booked on suspicion of child abuse, according to Los Angeles police Officer Nuria Vanegas.
Vanegas said a witness spotted Wilson and alerted police. Bail was set at $100,000, police said.
The boys, one 3 years old and the other 2 years old, were found by a passerby around 9 a.m. Monday in the 600 block of West Manchester Avenue, police said.
Police said the children lived in a nearby apartment in the 600 block of East 85th Street, and the residence was in “deplorable” condition. According to police, the older boy was known to walk into a nearby liquor store to get bread to feed himself and his brother.
The man who found the children, Luis Rodriguez, said he was working on his truck when he noticed the older boy riding a tricycle toward the road. Rodriguez said he then spotted the other child nearby.
The children have been turned over to the county Department of Children and Family Services.
