LASD Easter Bunny visits kids in hospital
LOS ANGELES (CNS) – The Easter Bunny surprised hospitalized children today in Los Angeles with Easter-themed gifts as part of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department’s Operation Easter Bunny program.
The Easter Bunny, joined with sheriff’s deputies from the Special Victims Bureau, handed out plush toy bunnies and other special gifts to children as part of the visit at the California Hospital Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Most of the children they visited are fighting for their lives or about to undergo surgery.
“If we can spread a little sunshine into their lives and perhaps, not that they would ever forget about the difficulties they are facing, but maybe give them an opportunity to separate from it for a moment,” sheriff’s Lt. Steve Katz said.
The sheriff’s department partnered with the Easter Bunny Foundation, which was founded in 1995, for the event. The foundation makes visits to hospitalized children across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
