NBC will name new LA news center for Tom Brokaw
NEW YORK (AP) — NBC is honoring its long-time news anchor Tom Brokaw by naming the network’s newly-built West Coast news center for him in a ceremony Tuesday.
Brokaw is taking a break from cancer treatment to celebrate with family and friends. The 74-year-old newsman is undergoing regular chemotherapy after being diagnosed last summer with multiple myeloma. The cancer affects blood cells in the bone marrow.
Brokaw has kept working, saying he finds it therapeutic. The author of “The Greatest Generation” is doing projects related to the upcoming 70th anniversary of D-Day.
Brokaw says the cancer has taken over his life in many ways. But he’s still able to work and do other things he likes, just not at the same pace as he’s used to.
