Twin Marriotts near LA Live now open
LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Downtown Los Angeles’ stock of hotel rooms grew sharply today with the opening of a pair of Marriott hotels near L.A. Live.
The 174-room Courtyard and 219-room Residence Inn L.A. Live are both housed in a 23-story, 371,000-square-foot building at Olympic Boulevard and Francisco Street, marking the first time on the West Coast that Marriott has combined the two brands into one structure.
The hotels share a lobby and meeting and restaurant space.
Janis Milham of Marriott International said the $172 million complex represents the “first select-service hotels to open in downtown L.A. in 20 years.”
City Councilman Jose Huizar hailed the opening, saying the hotels will employ more than 100 workers and generate more than $89 million a year in taxable spending.
“With the support of labor and the city of Los Angeles, we are creating new permanent jobs, as well as new revenue sources to help pay for city services,” Huizar said. “We are also taking an important step forward toward our goal of creating more hotel options downtown in order to make the Convention Center competitive on a national level to further drive our economy and boost our tourism sector.”
