CASTAIC (CNS) – After three days of searching, sheriff’s divers today found a body at Pyramid Lake that could be a man who disappeared following a boating accident that also left a West Covina resident dead.

Sheriff’s crews had been searching in murky waters for Jack Thirasack, 64, of Baldwin Park, whose fishing license was found in the water on Sunday near a partially submerged boat about 30 yards from shore.

On Sunday, the body of Rick Tanovan, 52, of West Covina, was found near the sunken boat.

A Parks Bureau deputy on patrol was flagged down at 11:20 a.m. Sunday by a man on a jet ski who reported seeing something suspicious in the south part of Pyramid Lake near Chumash Island, said Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez of the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.

Parks Bureau deputies then found the bow of a boat sticking up out of the water, Navarro-Suarez said.

Tanovan was found nearby and pulled from the water. Deputies administered CPR but were unable to revive him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, Navarro-Suarez said.

Autopsies will be conducted to determine the cause of death of both men.
