Cardinals count down to conclave with final talks

VATICAN CITY (AP) — Cardinals gathered for their final day of talks Monday before the conclave to elect the next pope, amid debate over whether the Catholic Church needs more of a manager pope to clean up the Vatican or a pastoral pope.

Sistine Chapel chimney installed as conclave nears, still no frontrunner

VATICAN CITY (AP) – The Vatican is trying to put an end to speculation that divisions among cardinals could drag out the conclave to elect the new pope. Preparations for the vote are plowing ahead, with firefighters installing the Sistine Chapel chimney that will tell the world when a decision has been reached.
