Teachers’ group blasts recommendation that staff be trained and armed

WASHINGTON (AP) — The American Federation of Teachers is denouncing a suggestion that schools train selected staff to carry weapons, and that each school should have at least one armed security officer.

Dick’s stores suspend sales of certain rifles

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Dick’s Sporting Goods chain says it’s suspending sales of modern rifles nationwide because of the school shooting in Connecticut and is removing all guns from display at its store closest to Newtown, site of the massacre.
