FDA says longer use of nicotine products is OK

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The Food and Drug Administration says smokers that are trying to quit can safely use nicotine gum, patches and lozenges for longer than previously recommended.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — California health officials say a woman who smoked a cigarette through a hole in her throat to illustrate the struggle of nicotine addiction in public service advertisements has died after a long struggle with cancer.
