The L.A. Marathon gets rolling at 6:55 a.m. on Sunday, March 17 at Dodger Stadium and will conclude 26 miles later at the Santa Monica Pier in the “Stadium to the Sea” course. The route winds through West Hollywood, Beverly Hills and the federal VA property.

Police say gunman kills self after standoff

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) — Santa Monica police say a gunman has killed himself in a home after a nearly 12-hour standoff. SWAT team members fired tear gas and entered the home at around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, where they found the man dead.
